On February 21, 1999, Michael & Mary Ann George, owners of MSG Jewelers, presented opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti with this one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted set of cuff links. The presentation was made at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton, MO, after Pavarotti's performance at the Kiel Auditorium, in downtown St. Louis.
The design and manufacturing of this magnificent item was painstakingly produced over a four-month period of time, in which every bar of gold and every diamond was manufactured and set by hand. The design features over one carat of round brilliant diamonds that were picked by hand for this design by Mr. Michael George himself.
On Dec. 6, 1988, Mike George Pres. of MSG Jewelers, Inc. Was commissioned by the National Arthritis Foundation to design and manufacture a one of a kind item for the special guest of honor Ms. Joan Benny, daughter of the comedian, actor and philanthropist, Jack Benny, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Arthritis Foundations existence. Mr. George conceived, designed and manufactured a one of a kind diamond and gold ballroom ball on a yellow gold engraved background. The pendant / brooch combination was a huge hit by Ms. Benny and the crowd, with many guests including Gov. Mel Carhahan. The George's enjoyed some private time with Ms. Benny as she related a great story about how her father presented her mother with a magnificent 25 carat pear shape diamond engagement ring known as her "Skate Ring". "It was awesome and one of the most spectacular diamonds I have ever seen", said Mr. George.
MSG Jewelers Owner / President, Michael S. George has been involved with the bodybuilding world for some time now, as a power lifter himself for many years and now as a sponsor and designer for the "Gateway Open Bodybuilding Championship" and national title event for "Mr. USA & Ms. USA". Mr. George designed and manufactures the overall male and female winner's grand prize, a custom made gold ring commemorating the highly acclaimed position. Lee Haney was this year's guest poser for the event and he looked like a "giant" on stage, said Mr. George and couldn't stop talking about the new love of his life, his baby, that was just born. This event was a lead into the national title of Mr. USA and Ms. USA, in Las Vegas, where Mr. George had the honor and privilege of designing and manufacturing the overall winner's rings and to meet the legendary Joe & Elizabeth Weider along with their special guest Mr. "T", who enjoyed the event with the George's along with his much quieter brother. "When "T" is around you don't get much talk time in" laughed Mike as he recounted their time together. "He sure lights up when the cameras came on and the lady's came around" says George. The Sands Hotel was filled with muscle-bound guys and gals, many of which were competing and more that were hoping to one day ascend to the heights of a champion like Lee Haney.
Benevolence was in the air at the annual "Denim & Diamonds" event to support liver research for Dr. Bruce Bacon and his team of dedicated doctors and lab techs. Dr. Bacon and MSG Jewelers, President, Michael S. George, teamed up along with the legendary musician Willie Nelson, Naomi Judd and Morgan Fairchild to help raise funds to discover a cure for liver diseases such as Hepatitis C and other deadly liver diseases. The concept of Denim &Diamonds was born out of the idea of Willie Nelson and his band donating their time to raise funds at a Friday night concert, as the "Denim" portion and Naomi Judd, Morgan Fairchild and Willie's wife Connie, participating in an evening of elegance, fun and dance along with an auction for the "Diamonds" portion. MSG Jewelers became involved in the second year of this annual event and was so taken by the love for Dr. Bacon and the support given by so many from near and far that he asked Dr. Bacon if it would be possible to do this again, to which Dr. Bacon replied, "Would you like to be our exclusive jeweler for the event?" Mr. George affirmatively replied and so a match was made. Mr. George was so impressed with the celebrity participation and dedication and was moved by the friendliness and willingness to help not only in this cause to support liver research, but also some of the other ministry events Mr. George spoke with Morgan Fairchild and Connie Nelson about, in their time together prior and during the event. "Connie gave me her personal phone number and said to call anytime we may need something from Willie". And "Morgan Fairchild is as beautiful inside as she is outside" said George as he related stories of the evenings events when he couldn't bid on the guitar signed by Willie Nelson due to being too busy. "Naomi Judd is as intelligent as she is beautiful" recalls Mike George as he reflects on Ms. Judd's address to the event guests. "She was not only articulate, buty very knowledgeable about liver disease, but the show stopper was the pup that garnered $1,600.00 and captured the hearts of everyone present".
